The Chiefs selected Nussmeier just before the seventh round of the draft came to a close and he could challenge for a starting spot in Week 1 depending on Patrick Mahomes' recovery from a torn ACL.
While Nussmeier was hampered by an oblique issue throughout his senior season at LSU, he still completed 67.4 percent of his throws for 1,927 yards and 12 touchdowns compared to five interceptions in nine appearances.
As for McCoy, he amassed nine passes defended and four interceptions with Tennessee in 2024 before missing his entire 2025 campaign following a torn ACL.
Long-term concerns about the 20-year-old's knee seemingly contributed to his draft slide, with ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reporting that five teams removed him from their draft board entirely.
Still, the Raiders will be hoping that he can look like his former self and become a key piece of their secondary after drafting him with the first pick of the fourth round.
