Colón had a long and successful MLB career, playing 21 seasons with 11 different teams from 1997 to 2018.
Although Colón went 247-188 with a 4.12 ERA, won the 2005 American League Cy Young Award and was a four-time All-Star, it can be argued that his 2016 home run is the most memorable moment of his career.
Adding to the lore of his home run is the fact that he was 43 years old and had never hit a homer in the majors before then.
When Colón retired at the age of 45, he was a career .084 hitter with one home run and 11 RBI.
A Colón return to baseball at 52 years of age seems unlikely, but even if it did happen, the universal designated hitter would prevent him from getting another opportunity to recapture his moonshot magic.
