Kurt Warner's Son E.J. Accepts Invite to Broncos Rookie Camp After 2026 NFL Draft

E.J. Warner, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner, is getting looks from multiple NFL teams after going undrafted in last month's 2026 NFL draft.

The former Fresno State quarterback has accepted an invitation to Denver Broncos rookie camp this week, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday.

Warner participated in the Kansas City Chiefs' rookie minicamp last weekend.

Warner spent two seasons at Temple and one at Rice before transferring to Fresno State. He completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 2,030 passing yards with 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 10 games of his senior college season.

He could be considered undersized after Fresno State listed him at 6'0" and 203 pounds.

Warner is looking to make the jump to the pros after a 4.82-second 40-yard dash, 30.5-foot vertical jump and nine-foot broad jump during the Bulldogs' pro day.

Signing a tryout contract would take him one step closer to following in the footsteps of his father, who went undrafted out of Northern Iowa in 1994 and went on to win two MVP awards and a Super Bowl.

Kurt Warner said in an April social media post he felt "the excitement level is higher for EJ" than it had been during his own undrafted free agency.

He added that he felt his son was "going to surprise" a lot of people.

The Broncos are bracing to spend at least part of the spring without starting quarterback Bo Nix, who was initially expected to start Denver's offseason training program on time after undergoing surgery on a broken right ankle in January.

Nix then underwent a second procedure on his ankle in late April, per 9News' Mike Klis.

The Broncos still had a month from that point until OTAs and minicamp, although the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel reported the team is likely to be "cautious" with Nix with a focus on having him available for training camp.

Keeping Nix on the sideline, at least for now, would leave the Broncos heading into OTAs with Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger as quarterback options.

Adding another signal caller could give the Broncos more flexibility as the team prepares to potentially spend at least part of the offseason without Nix.
