Bradley Beal Makes Decision on Clippers Contract Amid Kawhi Leonard Trade Rumors
Los Angeles Clippers veteran guard Bradley Beal declined his $5.9 million player option for the 2026-27 season on Monday, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Removing his salary from the books potentially gives Los Angeles more wiggle room as it weighs potentially trading Kawhi Leonard. ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk, however, reportedly the Clippers are interested in signing Beal to a new deal.
Beal initially signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the Clippers in July 2025 after his previous contract was bought out by the Phoenix Suns.

His inaugural year in L.A. didn't go according to plan, as he appeared in just six of the team's first nine games before suffering a hip fracture that required season-ending surgery.
Beal averaged 8.2 points and 1.7 assists in 20.2 minutes per game while shooting 37.5 percent from the field during his shortened 2025-26 campaign.
The 33-year-old will now look to make a larger impact with his next team as he prepares to hit free agency.
While Beal's age and injury history make his outlook on the free-agent market uncertain, teams could still view him as a complementary scoring option to bolster their offense.
In two seasons as a member of the Suns from 2023-25, Beal averaged 17.6 points and 4.3 assists to go along with 3.9 rebounds per game. He shot 50.5 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three-point territory over that span.
Beal can also bring plenty of playoff experience to his next organization, as he has 49 postseason starts under his belt.
