Red Sox Owner John Henry Responds to Fan Frustration After Viral 'Sell The Team' Video
Boston Red Sox fans are understandably upset with the team's ownership group, and principal owner John Henry isn't blind to their frustrations.
Henry told Bill King of the Sports Business Journal that he can't ignore Red Sox fans, and he and the ownership must work harder to make them happy.
"Fans get frustrated," Henry said. "The Sox looked terrible for (their) first 25 games. I remember a plane flying overhead when we (Liverpool) were beating Manchester United 7-0 that read 'FSG OUT!'"
"It doesn't mean you ignore them, it means you work harder – you don't settle for mediocrity. You have to win."
The Red Sox, who have made the postseason just twice since winning the World Series in 2018, are 14-21 this season, sitting in fifth place in the AL East. Boston fired manager Alex Cora and a handful of other coaches on April 25 amid a 10-17 start.
Henry has given no indication that he plans to sell the team, but he and the rest of the ownership group have their hands full as they look to win fans back after some rough years.
