Caitlin Clark Talks Wearing Leg Sleeve at Fever Practice in New Video After Injury-Plagued Season
Caitlin Clark was limited to just 13 games during her second WNBA season and had an injury scare during a preseason game against the Dallas Wings, so her health is going to be a major focal point during the 2026 campaign.
It was notable, then, that the Indiana Fever star was seen wearing a leg sleeve at practice.
"Just a little compression on the leg, I don't know," she said Tuesday while joking she knew the first question she got would be about the leg sleeve.
Tuesday's update comes after she told reporters "overall, I feel fine" after she exited the game against the Wings. "I just landed on my kneecap really hard."
Even before the preseason scare, her health was a primary storyline following the 2025 campaign. She dealt with a left quad sprain, injuries to both groins and a bone bruise in her left ankle and didn't take the court after July 15.
That meant she was sidelined for Indiana's playoff run that ended with a five-game loss to the Las Vegas Aces during the WNBA semifinals.
"Taking care of my body at this point in the season is probably the most important thing," Clark told reporters in April. "Whether that's recovery, whether that's pre-court treatment, whatever it is. I think it's those type of things."
It seems like the leg sleeve is the next step in that process as she looks to build on a career that has included a Rookie of the Year award, First-Team All-WNBA selection and two All-Star nods in her first two seasons.
Expectations are high for the Fever this season after they advanced in the playoffs without their primary ball-handler and playmaker. Clark is the face of the franchise, but Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull are also back for a team that will be in championship-or-bust mode.
That is plenty of offensive firepower, but Clark needs to be on the floor to maximize it all. The attention she draws, especially with her outside shooting, creates openings for all of her teammates, and she is a talented enough passer to put them in position to score.
The Fever start their season Saturday with a home game against the Dallas Wings.
