Texans 'Fully Committed' to C.J. Stroud amid Contract Rumors, Owner Cal McNair Says
The Houston Texans have yet to give quarterback C.J. Stroud an extension, but that doesn't mean they've lost hope in the young quarterback.
Texans owner Cal McNair said Monday that Houston is "fully committed" to Stroud.
"We'll leave that up to Nick and those communications are behind the scenes, but, yeah, we're fully committed to C.J.," McNair said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC (h/t Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper). "We exercised his fifth-year option and we'll see how that all works out."

The Texans exercised Stroud's fifth-year option last month, keeping him in Houston through the 2027 campaign. While they have already given Will Anderson, who was taken in the same draft as Stroud, an extension, there's still plenty of time for them to make a decision about Stroud.
Stroud won Rookie of the Year in 2023, but hasn't been able to repeat that success in the years since. Last year, he threw for 3,041 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 14 games. He helped guide Houston to the postseason once again, though the Texans' success was primarily because of their league-best defense.
It could be a bit disheartening for Stroud to still not have an extension, but if he puts together a strong 2026 season, he could be in for a big payday next offseason.
