Diego Pavia Spotlighted in Videos from Ravens' Rookie Minicamp, HC Minter Talks QB's Addition

Undrafted free-agent quarterback Diego Pavia took the field at rookie minicamp on Saturday after recently signing with the Baltimore Ravens.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley and Sam Cohn of the Baltimore Sun shared videos of Pavia's on-field work on the heels of the former Vanderbilt star going undrafted in the 2026 NFL draft:

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter also commented on what he saw out of Pavia and what he expects from him moving forward:

"Diego, just like a lot of the undrafted free agents, he's trying to make his mark," Minter said. "Honestly, it's the first two days, so it's just so much learning, just kind of getting acclimated to how we operate. Especially to a new offense from a quarterback's perspective.

"I know the program that he came from, I know a lot of people that worked with him. Kind of what I think he is as a person, a really, really hard worker. I think he helped really elevate that program in the SEC playing against really good competition. So now he's in the door, and it's like, show us what you can do and let the chips fall where they may just like all the undrafted rookies."

Minter was also asked about Pavia's actions and reputation off the field, and he told reporters, "He's had some experiences that are learning experiences."

While Pavia hasn't had any legal issues, his attitude has rubbed people the wrong way at times, and he hasn't always conducted himself as the type of leader that football teams want to see.

One major example came after losing the Heisman Trophy vote to then-Indiana and now-Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Fernando Mendoza at the end of the 2025 season.

Per ESPN's Dave Wilson, Pavia wrote, "F-All THE VOTERS. BUT.....FAMILY FOR LIFE," in an Instagram post before later issuing an apology.

In his final season at Vandy, Pavia was spectacular, completing 70.6 percent of his passes for 3,539 yards, 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while also rushing for 862 yards and 10 scores.

Pavia also led Vanderbilt to its first-ever 10-win season, and he finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting.

He was not selected in the NFL draft despite his track record of success, and that likely had much to do with his lack of prototypical size.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Pavia measured in at just over 5'10" and weighed 207 pounds.

NFL teams were not willing to take a chance on him in the draft at that size, but signing him as a free-agent is a low-risk move for a Ravens team that could use some quarterback depth behind superstar Lamar Jackson and veteran backup Tyler Huntley.
