Ayo Dosunmu Makes NBA History in T-Wolves' Win vs. Nuggets amid Anthony Edwards, DiVincenzo Injuries
Ayo Dosunmu proved to be the unsung hero for the Minnesota Timberwolves as they took a 3-1 series lead on the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 2026 NBA playoffs.
The fifth-year guard came off the bench to score 43 points and added four rebounds, one assist and one block in Saturday's 112-96 win. OptaSTATS noted the special nature of his combined stat line:
While that doesn't make for a snappy record, it reflects how efficient Dosunmu was on offense.
The Timberwolves needed somebody to step up after guards Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo exited the contest. DiVincenzo reportedly tore his Achilles, so he'll be sidelined for the duration of the playoffs. Edwards' status moving forward is less clear.
Dosunmu shouted out his injured teammates after the victory.
Minnesota star Julius Randle told reporters after the game he underrated Dosunmu's prior to his midseason trade.
"I didn't know he was that damn good. I ain't gonna lie to you," Randle said. "... When I was in the East and he was in Chicago, that were those DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine teams, so I don't know if the opportunity was there as much, but damn, I'm glad we got him."
Postseason legends aren't made in the opening round. The Wolves still have a long road ahead, and how far the team advances will shape how this run and its moments are remembered.
Still, Dosunmu's efforts should be celebrated, and those who watched Game 4 unfold won't soon forget his performance.
