The New York Jets picked Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq with the No. 16 overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft on Thursday.

New York wasn't done making offensive additions, trading back into the first round to draft Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 30.

Garrett Wilson reacted to the two pass-catchers:

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets sent the No. 33 overall pick and the No. 179 selection to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for the first-rounder used to bring in Cooper.

Sadiq and Cooper will become new weapons for Jets quarterback Geno Smith after the team acquired him in a March 10 trade with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Fans and pundits reacted to New York's choices.

Sadiq caught 51 passes for 560 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games during his 2025 campaign with the Ducks.

He eventually put together a strong performance at the 2026 scouting combine, highlighted by a 4.39-second time in the 40-yard dash.

Sadiq was ranked as the No. 1 tight end as well as the No. 17 overall player in the draft class on the most recent big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.

B/R NFL Scout Daniel Harms brought up Sadiq's athleticism in his scouting report.

"Add in his explosive ability down the field and after the catch to maximize any passing attack, and he's the TE1 in this class," Harms wrote. "Sadiq is a former 4-star recruit, and his athletic ability as a multi-sport standout has transitioned to the football field, showcasing his incredible potential as a pass catcher."

As for Cooper, he operated as the leading receiver on an Indiana squad that captured a national title and finished with a flawless 16-0 record last season.

He reeled in 69 catches for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns across 16 appearances in 2025. Cooper averaged 15.6 yards per reception in his four years with the Hoosiers.

He was listed as the No. 5 wide receiver on B/R NFL Scouting Department's big board.

After the Jets owned the NFL's worst passing offense in 2026, they used multiple first-round picks to bring in new targets for Smith to work with.
