David Bailey to Jets, Fans React to B/R's No. 2 EDGE Going 2nd in 2026 NFL Draft
One of the top pass rushers in this year's draft class is off the board.
Texas Tech standout edge David Bailey was selected second overall by the New York Jets on Thursday.
The Jets addressed a major need by picking up Bailey, and fans are looking forward to seeing what the former Red Raiders star can do.
Bailey spent three years at Stanford before a breakout year at Texas Tech last year. In his sole season with the Red Raiders, he collected 52 tackles and 14.5 sacks, the most in college football.
Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department considered Bailey to be the No. 7 overall player and the No. 2 edge rusher, only behind Miami's Rueben Bain Jr.
In his scouting report of Bailey, B/R's Matt Holder noted his speed and acceleration as well as how he uses his hands, but added that Bailey could work on his strength and physicality. Both of those things are fixable, so he could be a prototypical NFL pass rusher in no time.
Bailey wasn't too high up on the draft boards entering his senior season, but he quickly showed that he was worthy of being a first-round pick. Now, he'll look to continue thriving at the pro level.
