Anthony Edwards Rips His Box Score Despite Wolves' NBA Playoff G2 Win vs. Nuggets, 'S--t's Ass'
Despite putting up 30 points and 10 rebounds in the Minnesota Timberwolves' come-from-behind win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference playoffs, Anthony Edwards was unhappy with how he played.
Edwards told reporters after the game that "s--t's ass" when looking at his box score numbers.
The primary issue Edwards cited was his efficiency, as his 30 points came on 10-of-25 shooting from the field. He also made just three of his 11 attempts from three-point range.
Edwards entered this series with a knee injury that kept him out for 11 of Minnesota's final 14 games in the regular season. He looked sluggish in Game 1 on Saturday with 22 points on 7-of-19 shooting, though he did contribute nine rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in the 116-105 loss.
"I didn't see a ton of physical limitations," Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch said after Saturday's game. "I really didn't. It looked like a rusty game back."
Even though Edwards' efficiency has been lacking so far in the series, there have been glimmers of him breaking out of it. He played the entire second quarter on Monday night, scoring 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting to help Minnesota tie the game going into halftime after trailing 39-25 at the end of the first quarter.
This isn't the first time Edwards has gotten off to a slow start in the playoffs. He shot 18-of-44 through the first two games against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round last year, then went 24-of-49 in the next two games.
Being able to steal Game 2 in Denver affords Edwards and the T-Wolves the opportunity to take control of the series at Target Center.
The first game in Minnesota between the Nuggets and Timberwolves will be played on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
