The 6'9" power forward was ranked the 11th overall prospect in the nation by 247Sports. He was also ranked the third-best power forward and No. 2 player coming out of California.
With his recruitment back open, 247Sports' Chip Miller gave a rundown of the teams Leaf was considering prior to his commitment to Arizona:
Leaf has already shown he has the capability to become a dangerous, well-rounded player who can play tough inside while bringing a solid shot to the perimeter. His size has also allowed him to dominate the boards, putting up gaudy numbers in his junior year. In 35 games in his junior season, Leaf recorded 27.4 points per game and 14.2 rebounds.
Josh Gershon of Scout.com took a look at Leaf's game:
"Leaf has an extremely unique game for a junior forward, almost like they brought him straight from Europe, as you just don't see many young Americans with his skill set. He has a true inside/out game and is willing to exploit mismatches when he has them on the perimeter or in the post.
"
His quick reaction time also makes him a great shot-blocker. But a slender frame at 215 pounds means he will have to beef up if he wants to see the same kind of success in the NCAA.
It remains to be seen what kind of game he is going to bring to Division I hoops after he is completely done maturing and filling out, but if he is able to keep his game at a high level in multiple facets like he has in high school, expect a star to emerge wherever he may go.
