How Giants Reportedly Feel About Jeremiyah Love amid Latest NFL Rumors, Mock Drafts

Adam WellsApr 17, 2026

As the New York Giants make their final preparations for the 2026 NFL draft, their preferred choice at No. 5 overall appears to remain unsettled at this point.

Per ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Giants officials, including head coach John Harbaugh, are "especially high" on Jeremiyah Love and it would be "hard to see them" pass up on him if he is still available at five.

Love, Sonny Styles and Caleb Downs are the three players Raanan cited as being "most squarely" on New York's radar right now.

B/R's NFL scouting department is currently projecting Styles to be the Giants' pick, with Love coming off the board to the Tennessee Titans at four.

There has also been growing speculation that Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate could end up being the Giants' pick. ESPN's Matt Miller reported on Tuesday there's "a lot of smoke" linking Tate to New York.

Appearing on NFL Network's Path to the Draft on Monday (h/t John Fennelly of Giants Wire), Harbaugh said Malik Nabers' timeline to return from a torn ACL will is "closer to the season."

Cam Skattebo is also recovering from a dislocated ankle, fractured leg and deltoid ligament rupture that ended his rookie season prematurely. He has said he expects to be back at full strength for the start of OTAs, so that could affect whether or not the Giants prioritize a running back in the first round.

Love's talent is on a different level than Skattebo. The Notre Dame star is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the class by B/R's NFL scouting department, which cited Jamaal Charles as his pro comp.

There's no wrong decision for the Giants to make if they are picking between Love, Tate, Downs and Styles.

They have a solid offensive nucleus to build around, led by Jaxson Dart. It would make sense if they want to help out their young quarterback with a dynamic running back or wide receiver, but their defense also has plenty of holes to fill that Downs or Styles could be game-changers.
