Giants' Cam Skattebo Reportedly Has Leg Fracture, Ligament Rupture After Ankle Injury

Adam WellsOct 29, 2025

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo's injury suffered in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles turned out to be worse than just a dislocated ankle.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Skattebo also suffered a fractured leg and deltoid ligament rupture.

Rapoport noted the recovery time for Skattebo after he had surgery on Sunday is four to six months, meaning he should be back at full strength by the time the Giants begin OTAs in the spring.

Skattebo suffered the injury in the second quarter when his leg got pinned under him and twisted when he was hit by a defender as Jaxson Dart threw a pass to him.

The medical staff put Skattebo's leg in an air cast and he was taken off the field on a cart before being transported to a local hospital in Philadelphia.

After his injury and surgery, Skattebo posted a message on social media thanking the everyone for their support and the medical staff in Philadelphia for "taking the best care of me."

The injury ended what had been a very promising start in the NFL for the rookie running back. Even before he left the game against the Eagles, he had 30 yards from scrimmage and caught a touchdown pass in his 11 offensive snaps.

In the four full games Skattebo played as a starter from Weeks 4-7, Skattebo averaged 99.5 yards from scrimmage and scored four total touchdowns.

Even though the injury cut short a potential Rookie of the Year campaign, Skattebo potentially being ready for the start of OTAs after the 2026 draft is a silver lining for him and the Giants.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. will likely get the bulk of the snaps at running back for New York going forward. Devin Singletary could also get more work in games as the Giants try to fill the void left in Skattebo's absence.
