Terry Rozier Waived by Heat, Guard Has Been on NBA Leave Since October
Terry Rozier, who was placed on administrative leave by the NBA in October amid a federal investigation into illegal gambling activity, was waived by the Miami Heat on Friday.
The Heat waived Rozier to open up a roster spot ahead of the play-in tournament next week.
ESPN's Bobby Marks noted that Friday at 5 p.m. ET is the deadline for teams to waive a player on an expiring contract.

The next deadline for the Heat to sign a player is Sunday, which is the final day of the regular season.
Rozier was among 34 people indicted in connection to two separate federal gambling investigations. He pleaded not guilty to charges of wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges during a court appearance in December.
The Heat originally acquired Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets for Kyle Lowry and a 2027 first-round draft pick in January 2024. He was in the second year of a four-year, $96 million contract extension at the time of the deal.
Rozier appeared in 95 games with the Heat over two seasons. The 32-year-old played 10 seasons in the NBA with three different teams.
The Heat are locked into the 9-10 game in the play-in tournament. They are currently the No. 10 seed, but could move up to ninth if they win out and either the Hornets or Philadelphia 76ers lose their final two regular-season games.
