Elliot Cadeau Returns to Michigan for Senior Season After Winning 2026 NCAA March Madness Title

Michigan will have its star point guard back next season as it looks to defend its national championship.

Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, Elliot Cadeau has agreed to a deal to return to the Wolverines for his senior season after he was named the NCAA's Most Outstanding Player on Monday.

Cadeau was a 5-star prospect and the No. 11 overall player in the class of 2023, per 247Sports' composite rankings. He spent the first two seasons of his career as the starting point guard at North Carolina before entering the portal last year, where he was considered by 247Sports to be the 60th best player available.

In his first year at Michigan, Cadeau put together the best season of his career behind 10.5 points and 5.9 assists per game. He stepped it up in the tournament, averaging 12.3 points and 7.5 assists across six games.

In the national championship game against UConn, with star Yaxel Lendeborg clearly limited by an ankle injury, Cadeau put up a game-high 19 points.

Michigan has started the offseason strong as it looks to put together another championship-caliber team. Along with retaining Cadeau, the Wolverines landed Tennessee transfer forward J.P. Estrella on Thursday.

The 6'11" Estrella, who was considered to be the No. 21 overall player in the portal by 247Sports, put up 10 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Vols, who lost to the Wolverines in the Elite Eight.

Michigan will look to continue to add top transfers to complement a strong recruiting class in 2026.
