James Harden Requested Cavs Schedule Ballroom Walk-Throughs at Hotels After Trade from Clippers
After being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, star guard James Harden had an interesting request for his new team.
Harden explained to The Athletic's Joe Vardon that he asked the Cavs to stage walk-throughs in hotel ballrooms ahead of road games on days with no shootarounds.
"It's just preparation, detail, you get ready for the game," Harden told Vardon. "Physically you get out and move around, and mentally you have to be prepared. It's just preparation man, especially going into this run that we are about to go into. I think the focus is making sure we know who we're playing against and individual guys and what they like to do with their tendencies. Just going to give us an advantage and hopefully we can play better."
Since Harden's arrival to Cleveland, the team is 18-6 with him on the floor. Despite being known for isolation basketball, the 36-year-old acclimated to the Cavs' passing and cutting offensive attack. Head coach Kenny Atkinson praised him for how few changes were needed to accommodate his game.
"He's completely adapted to our style of play, which is pretty, I would assume, rare," Atkinson said.
Harden and the Cavs (50-29) will be seeking their fourth straight win when they return to action on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks (45-34).
