New Doc Rivers Rumors Update Buzz on Bucks HC's Future After Missing 2026 NBA Playoffs
The Doc Rivers era could be nearing its end in Milwaukee.
Per NBA insider Marc Stein, the Bucks and the Hall of Fame coach "could be heading for some sort of parting or job restructuring" after the team missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
The Bucks are also already eyeing a replacement, according to Stein. Taylor Jenkins, the former head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, "has already emerged as a likely prime candidate" for Milwaukee.

Rivers took over halfway through the 2023-24 campaign after Adrian Griffin's firing. He helped lead the Bucks to the postseason, but faced a first-round exit to the Indiana Pacers.
The Bucks then went 48-34 in his first full season as head coach, but once again were bounced by the Pacers in the first round after Damian Lillard suffered a torn Achilles.
Milwaukee is currently in 11th place at 31-47. This will be the first year since the 2015-16 campaign in which the Bucks didn't win at least 40 games.
While Rivers has failed to find much success with the Bucks in his first few seasons, he hasn't been dealt the easiest hand. He's had to manage multiple injuries, including Lillard's Achilles last year and various Giannis Antetokounmpo ailments. Antetokounmpo has appeared in just 36 games this year.
Whether moving on from Rivers would solve the Bucks' problems is to be determined, but he's far from their only issue.
