Preview
Michigan's performance on Saturday was similar to the ones we witnessed during nonconference play.
The Wolverines blew out Auburn, Gonzaga, San Diego State and Villanova, four teams in the KenPom top 50, at the start of their push as serious national title contenders.
Dusty May's team flexed its muscle again in the Elite Eight and Final Four with a pair of 20-plus-point wins over Tennessee and Arizona.
It's hard to imagine any team in the country stopping Michigan when it plays as well as it did on both ends on Saturday.
However, there is one concern in the form of Yaxel Lendeborg's injury. The UAB transfer suffered a leg injury on Saturday. He returned for the second half, but his effectiveness might be hampered two days after the injury.
Even if Lendeborg isn't at 100 percent, Michigan can hurt UConn with its slew of scorers. Four other players were in double figures against Arizona.
Elliot Cadeau produced back-to-back 10-assist performances as well. If he continues to distribute at that rate, UConn will have a tough time slowing down anything Michigan throws at it offensively.
If there is any coach who can figure out how to slow down Michigan, it is Dan Hurley.
UConn suffered one loss in the NCAA tournament over the last four years under Hurley. The Huskies won two titles and now earned a third national championship appearance in four years.
UConn hasn't let any opponents score over 72 points in the NCAA tournament, and it held Illinois to 62 points on Saturday.
The Huskies need Tarris Reed Jr. to deal with the threat posed by multiple Michigan big men. If Reed gets into foul trouble, the Huskies could be in a huge spot of bother.
The guard play will be vital for UConn because it doesn't have the depth of frontcourt players to challenge Michigan.
And if you're looking for a true X-factor, the Huskies have it in two-time national champion Alex Karaban.
Karaban will be the steady hand on the floor for the Huskies while they settle into the contest. He's done a bit of everything in the NCAA tournament. He had 27 points in the second round against UCLA and he made the key pass on Braylon Mullins' game-winning shot against Duke.
If UConn wins, you should expect Karaban to play a major role on both sides of the floor.
Michigan has been the more dominant team throughout the Big Dance, but it's hard to replicate the experience Hurley and Karaban bring with them for the Huskies.
