Sacramento State forward Shaqir O'Neal won the State Farm College Slam Dunk Championships on Friday in Indianapolis.

The son of Basketball Hall of Famer and former superstar NBA center Shaquille O'Neal beat six other participants: Nico Ashley (Central Connecticut), Bryson Dawkins (Youngstown St.), Jaylin Henderson (Portland St.), LaJae Jones (Florida St.), William Kyle (Syracuse) and Sam Phipps (UT-Tyler).

O'Neal faced Ashley in the finals. The two were neck-and-neck in the semifinal round, with O'Neal scoring 89 out of a possible 100 points over two dunks and Ashley scoring 88 points.

O'Neal scored a perfect 50 with a honey dip a la Vince Carter in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest.

Ashley got off to a great start in the finals with a perfect 50 thanks to a reverse slam off the side of the backboard over Kyle and a cameraman.

O'Neal responded with a honey dip, this time over two players, Kyle and Chauncey Wiggins of Florida State, who competed in the three-point contest.

Ashley ran into some trouble on his second dunk attempt, though, and didn't complete a successful one before time ran out.

That meant O'Neal just had to complete one dunk to avoid a 0 and win the championship. He finished with a reverse windmill for the win.

Earlier in the night, Elle Evans of Kansas won the women's three-point contest. CJ Gunn of DePaul won the men's three-point contest.
