Todd McShay Updates Jeremiyah Love Rumors on Potential Landing Spots Ahead of 2026 NFL Draft
NFL draft insider Todd McShay offered more insight on where Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love could land at this year's NFL draft.
"No. 3, Arizona Cardinals. One source is saying—I know [ESPN's Adam Schefter] said the clock starts on Jeremiyah Love at No. 5. He's not going to Tennessee [at No. 4]," McShay said Friday on his podcast (14:46 mark). "I know, there's someone in [Arizona's] building who's pushing really, really hard for Love that has a say, OK? Then I get another person, and I've seen this in like mock drafts and people have been talking about, this wasn't surprising, but another person [said] trading out of No. 3 remains one of the priorities or one of the things that could absolutely happen with Arizona. There's a lot of buzz about Dallas, and what comes to the noise of Dallas trading up from No. 12 to No. 3 to get [David] Bailey, right? Keep it in state, Texas Tech, pass-rusher. Most importantly, they've put all their efforts in to rebuilding that defense over the last year. But then there's the back-and-forth of the other one, like maybe it is a trade out, but it could be maybe one or two spots where they can still get Love. So when I say to you, Arizona could be trading out of that spot, a team could be trying to trade up for an edge, specifically Bailey."

The last running back selected as a top-three pick was Saquon Barkley in 2018, so the Cardinals taking Love that high would be something of a shock, especially given their needs elsewhere across the roster.
The 20-year-old was excellent in 2025, rushing for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns while catching 27 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns. He'll be instant offense for any team that drafts him, though running backs are more of a luxury option for rebuilding teams than a necessity, at least compared to positions like quarterbacks, edge-rushers, offensive tackles, cornerbacks and wideouts.
In that regard, Arizona probably isn't the move for Love unless they trade down and acquire more draft capital. But the Cardinals seemingly have their eyes on him as a potential consideration.
