McClung, 27, averaged a league-leading 31.8 points, 7.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 40 games for the Windy City Bulls this season, shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three.
He also appeared in five NBA games this season (two for the Chicago Bulls, three for the Indiana Pacers), averaging 6.2 points per contest.
McClung previously won the G League MVP in the 2023–24 season with the Osceola Magic. He's long been one of the best players in the G League but has struggled to stick at the next level, appearing in just 11 NBA games during his career since going undrafted in 2021.
But his G League legacy is undeniable. In late March, he became the G League's all-time leading scorer, surpassing Renaldo Major.
"I think it's a product of good coaches and good teammates putting you in situations like this, and also a product of making the most out of whatever your opportunity is, killing your ego and getting better each year," McClung he told reporters after setting the record.
