Anthony Edwards Ineligible for Postseason NBA Awards After Latest Injury Update on Wolves Star
After a brief return from injury, Anthony Edwards is sidelined once again.
The Minnesota Timberwolves revealed Thursday that Edwards won't suit up for their contest against the Detroit Pistons as he continues to deal with right knee patellofemoral pain.
Missing the game also means that Edwards won't meet the 65-game threshold to be eligible for end-of-season awards.

Edwards initially suffered the knee injury in mid-March and was forced to miss six games. The Timberwolves went 4-2 without their star on the court during that stretch.
Edwards returned to action on Monday against the Dallas Mavericks, putting up 17 points in 23 minutes.
"Ant was awesome, man," head coach Chris Finch told reporters on Monday. "His defense was outstanding. Just let the game come to him. Stayed aggressive. Made quicker decisions. And things looked kind of easy for him as a result."
It's unclear whether Edwards is set to miss multiple games or if the Timberwolves wanted to give him the night off to ease back after missing a few weeks. Minnesota has not yet secured a playoff spot, as it sits in sixth place in the West at 46-29. The T-Wolves are half a game back from the fifth-placed Rockets and 4.5 games ahead of the Phoenix Suns.
Having Edwards back to secure a top-six seed would be ideal, but the Timberwolves should be able to manage without him. They'd likely prefer to ensure he's 100 percent healthy heading into the playoffs.
Edwards was likely well on his way to earning his first All-NBA First Team nod after putting up 29.3 points per game this year, but it will ultimately have to wait at least another season since he'll have finished the year playing fewer than 64 games.
Still, the lack of awards this year won't take away from his career season.
