Jerry Jones Reacts to Failed Maxx Crosby Trade Between Ravens, Raiders After Cowboys Offer
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gave his thoughts on the failed trade between the Baltimore Ravens and Las Vegas Raiders involving star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby.
"For me, there's no hidden item there," Jones said during Tuesday's league meetings. "You have to pass a physical. You have to. And we've never completed an agreement until the player passes a physical. That implies that your doctors, your trainers and everybody involved gets to take a look at him. That goes with the territory. We would have basically had the same conditions with the physical. As you know, we were in on making an offer for him. So he would have come to Dallas and we'll all just guess what would have happened."

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
The Ravens initially agreed to acquire Crosby from the Raiders in exchange for two first-round picks, but backed out of the trade after he didn't pass his physical.
Dallas attempted to add the five-time Pro Bowler as well, reportedly offering the No. 12 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft and a second-round selection.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that the Ravens had all the information and understood the status of Crosby's knee injury, as "many in the league" believed that the team "ultimately just got cold feet."
The 28-year-old underwent knee surgery on Jan. 7 after he missed the final two games of the 2025 season.
Crosby's surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, later told ESPN's Adam Schefter that the Raiders star was "certainly on track in his planned program" following the procedure.
Still, it seems as though a failed physical also would have prevented Crosby from potentially becoming a member of the Cowboys.
Dallas is looking to improve defensively in 2026, as it ranked No. 32 among all teams last season by allowing 30.1 points per game. The Cowboys also struggled to bring down opposing quarterbacks, sitting at No. 24 in the NFL with 35 sacks.
As for Crosby, he'll remain with the Raiders and look to continue playing at a high level next season.
He's coming off an impressive 2025 campaign, amassing 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, 10 sacks and six passes defended in 15 games.
