New Ty Simpson Rumors About Jets, Browns, Dolphins, More Teams Linked Ahead of 2026 NFL Draft

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson scheduled pre-draft visits with the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

The New York Jets have already met with Simpson as well, staging a private workout and having dinner with the 2026 draft prospect. General manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn were among the team's contingent.

Mougey described it as a "good visit."

Simpson could plausibly be a first-round pick. A lot of teams need quarterbacks, and he's generally considered the second-best one in the class behind Indiana's Fernando Mendoza. He sits 26th overall in Bleacher Report's big board.

Unlike with Mendoza, however, opinions toward Simpson are somewhat mixed. He could end up like Will Levis, who got invited to the green room on draft night in 2023 and watched as he was totally bypassed in the first round.

The Jets, Browns and Dolphins all have something in common: two Day 1 picks. That gives them the flexibility to first focus on value and then circle back and consider Simpson if he's still on the board.

New York and Cleveland's original picks are both in the top 10, and Miami (No. 11) is just outside that range. Taking Simpson there would be a big reach.

The selections the Jets (No. 16), Browns (No. 24) and Dolphins (No. 30) acquired through trade are in the mid-to-late stages of the round, much closer to where he's being evaluated.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, have the second pick in the second round. Overlooking Simpson there would be tough if nobody else has taken him.
