WWE's The Rock Stars in Trailer for Live-Action Moana, Release Date Revealed
WWE legend Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is bringing one of his most famous characters to life in his next showcase on the big screen.
On Monday, fans got their first look at Johnson playing Maui in the trailer for the live-action remake of Disney's Moana, which will be released on July 10:
Johnson voiced the character in the original 2016 animated film, which was a massive success both critically and commercially. Per Variety's Michaela Zee, the film grossed $643 million at the global box office. It was also nominated for best animated feature at the Oscars.
Johnson will be starring alongside newcomer Catherine Laga'aia, who plays the titular character. Zee noted that Auli'i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in both the 2016 original and its 2024 sequel, is serving as an executive producer.
Fans will surely enjoy watching Johnson show his range with one of his most challenging roles when Moana hits theaters this summer.
