John Cena Teases New WWE Role After Retirement, 'I'll Just Cross My Fingers That It Works'
After retiring from in-ring competition in December, WWE legend John Cena could return to the company in a new role.
While speaking at MEGACON Orlando, Cena teased the possibility of making a comeback under a different capacity.
"I am working diligently to try to figure out my next path as a contributing, useful member of WWE," Cena revealed (h/t Fightful). "I think I might crack the code, and I think we have something, and if the stars align and everybody signs off, I will be a whole lot more integrated in the system, and I'm very excited about the road ahead, and I'll just cross my fingers that it works."
Cena is fully committed to his acting career, so it's unlikely that he will take on a full-time role with WWE. There's a chance that he could assume a position on the board of executives, similar to fellow wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Some fans on social media viewed Cena's phrasing of "crack the code" as a nod to Chris Jericho, who has been rumored to be returning to WWE for months.
Whatever the case may be, the wrestling world is better when Cena is a part of it, so it will be exciting to see what his next move is with WWE.
