Jelly Roll Beats Kit Wilson in WWE Return Match, What Does it Mean for WrestleMania 42 amid Rumors?

Country music star Jelly Roll beat Kit Wilson on Friday night's episode of WWE SmackDown in his first-ever singles match.

Jelly Roll and Wilson have been at odds for the past few weeks, dating back to Jelly Roll's appearance on Miz TV during the March 13 edition of SmackDown.

Both Miz and Wilson were highly critical of Jelly Roll during the segment, and after Wilson shoved Jelly Roll, the musician tried to punch him, only to knock out Miz instead.

That led to a confrontation between Jelly Roll and Wilson the following week on SmackDown, and while Jelly Roll wanted to get into a fight, Wilson had other ideas.

Wilson challenged Jelly Roll to a slam poetry battle, but Wilson lost his cool when Jelly Roll made some remarks about his mother.

The segment ended with Wilson attacking Jelly Roll and hitting him with a devastating move off the top rope.

That prompted Jelly Roll to request a match against Wilson, and SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis agreed to make it happen this week.

WWE booking Jelly Roll vs. Wilson for SmackDown wasn't a huge surprise given some of the rumors that have surrounded them with regard to WrestleMania 42 recently.

BodySlam.net (h/t 411Mania.com's Jeffrey Harris) reported that WWE was planning to have Jelly Roll team with Royce Keys in a tag team match at WrestleMania with Wilson and The Miz as the likely opponents.

However, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t 411Mania.com's Jeremy Thomas) followed up by reporting that Keys would not be Jelly Roll's WrestleMania partner, although he did still expect Jelly Roll and someone to face Wilson and Miz.

Given the events of Friday night, Jelly Roll's rivalry with Wilson and The Miz is likely far from over, and they figure to settle the score at the Showcase of the Immortals.
