
March Madness No. 8 Seeds Finish Winless in NCAA Tournament amid Ohio State, Villanova Losses
For the first time since 2019, all four No. 8 seeds in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament have gone winless.
Iowa's 67-61 win over Clemson clinched the 4-0 first round effort for the No. 9 seeds on Friday evening. Earlier in the day, Utah State defeated Villanova 86-76.
On Thursday, TCU kicked off the first round with a 66-64 win over Ohio State. Saint Louis later crushed Georgia 102-77.

This year's No. 9 seeds hope for better second round luck than the last time all four No. 9 seeds made the tournament.
In 2019, UCF, Washington, Oklahoma and Baylor all reached the Round of 32, but they went winless and fell by a combined 47 points once there. UCF came the closest to the Sweet Sixteen, giving Zion Williamson's Duke squad a run for its money before losing 77-76.
Saint Louis opened the second round for the No. 9 seeds on Saturday at 12:10 p.m. ET against No. 1 Michigan. No. 9 TCU faces No. 1 Duke later in the day at 5:15 p.m.
On Sunday, Iowa will face the winner of Florida vs. Prairie View A&M, and Utah State will play Arizona. Times are to-be-determined.
