NFL's Jameis Winston Joins Netflix Crew for Yankees vs. Giants MLB Opening Night With Bonds, More
With the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants set to open the 2026 MLB regular season, Netflix is bringing in a member of the New York Giants to be part of its first baseball broadcast.
Netflix announced on Friday that Jameis Winston will be a special guest on the broadcast for the March 25 game between the Yankees and Giants.
Winston will join the already-announced group of studio analysts, broadcasters, sideline reporters and contributors, including Barry Bonds, CC Sabathia, Albert Pujols and Anthony Rizzo.
The Yankees-Giants game will mark the start of Netflix's media rights deal with MLB that also includes broadcast rights to the Home Run Derby and Field of Dreams game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins.
Even though Winston is known for his football career, which includes a national title and Heisman Trophy at Florida State and being the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL draft, he has some baseball experience under his belt.
Winston played two seasons for the Seminoles baseball team from 2013 to '14. He split time between playing in the outfield and pitching out of the bullpen. The right-hander had a 1.94 ERA and 52 strikeouts over 60.0 innings in 41 relief appearances. He hit .209/.356/.304 in 195 plate appearances.
The Texas Rangers selected Winston in the 15th round of the 2012 MLB draft when he was coming out of Hueytown High School. He turned down the offer to play football and baseball at Florida State.
Winston has made more than $80 million in his NFL career thus far, so it's safe to say he made the right decision.
The Yankees-Giants game will be played at Oracle Park on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET. Netflix's coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET.
