Barry Bonds Joins Netflix Crew for Yankees vs. Giants MLB Opening Night with CC Sabathia, More
Barry Bonds will be back in his old stomping grounds for MLB's opening night game between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants on Netflix.
The streamer announced on Thursday that Bonds will be part of the broadcast crew for the March 25 game between the Yankees and Giants at Oracle Park.
Bonds is joining the previously-announced crew led by host Elle Duncan, with Matt Vasgersian, Baseball Hall of Famer CC Sabathia and four-time All-Star Hunter Pence in the broadcast booth.
The Athletic's Andrew Marchand reported last month that Netflix was pursuing Bonds for a role on the opening night broadcast where he would "likely" be on site at Oracle Park for pre- and post-game commentary.
Opening night will mark the first MLB game on Netflix as part of a multiyear agreement between the two parties. The streamer will also air the Home Run Derby during All-Star week and the Field of Dreams game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins on Aug. 13.
Bonds has not worked as part of a national broadcast crew for an MLB game since his playing career ended after the 2007 season. He did return to the league for one season in 2016 as hitting coach for the Miami Marlins.
A seven-time MVP, Bonds played the final 15 seasons of his 22-year MLB career with the Giants. He helped lead the team to an appearance in the 2002 World Series.
The Yankees-Giants game that will kickoff the 2026 MLB season will be played on March 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
