New Field Yates NFL Draft Big Board Rankings for Top 50 Prospects Drops amid 2026 Free Agency

Following the first wave of free-agency signings in the NFL, ESPN's Field Yates updated his player rankings for next month's draft.

Yates dropped his latest big board featuring the top 50 players in this year's draft class. Unsurprisingly, Indiana quarterback and 2025 Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza maintained his No. 1 spot.

However, there was significant movement from Yates' previous big board in January. The full top 10 from his latest edition is as follows:

  3. David Bailey, Edge, Texas Tech
  4. Arvell Reese, Edge, Ohio State
  5. Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State
  6. Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State

In January, Yates had Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love ranked sixth overall, but he shot up to No. 2 following an excellent showing at the NFL scouting combine. He's also ranked No. 2 in the latest big board from B/R's NFL Scouting Department.

"Put your positional value conversations aside while discussing Love, as the Notre Dame star has every necessary skill for an elite running back," Yates stated. "He has excellent speed and overall acceleration, posting a 4.36 40-yard dash at the combine and averaging nearly 7.0 yards per carry over the past two seasons."

Another player who made a significant jump from Yates' previous rankings was Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles, who went from No. 10 in January to No. 5 this time around. B/R's NFL Scouting Department predicted in its mock draft that Styles would be selected fourth overall by the Tennessee Titans. Yates explained that his impressive performance at the combine wasn't the only reason for his improved ranking.

"Though Styles' profile has risen to new heights after a combine performance for the ages (including a 43½-inch vertical jump), the former safety is much more than just an athletic dynamo," Yates stated. "His game is also highlighted by forceful tackling, a quick trigger defending the run and natural coverage instincts."

Yates noted that his final rankings will come next month, so players can still rise and fall based on their pre-draft workouts over the next few weeks.
