The top five quarterback prospects in the 2026 NFL draft were ranked in the latest big board from ESPN's Field Yates.

Yates listed Indiana passer Fernando Mendoza at No. 1, while Alabama's Ty Simpson came in at No. 2. Ole Miss signal-caller Trinidad Chambliss was ranked No. 3, while Penn State's Drew Allar and Clemson's Cade Klubnik rounded out the top five.

Mendoza has exceeded expectations this season, earning Heisman Trophy honors and helping lead the Hoosiers to the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

"The Heisman Trophy winner brings a comprehensive skill set led by exceptional accuracy to all levels of the field, a powerful arm and a rock-solid stature," Yates wrote. "Mendoza has completed 73 percent of his passes this season (third highest in FBS), including five separate games with a completion percentage north of 85 percent. He has 41 touchdown passes to six interceptions."

As for Simpson, he completed 64.5 percent of his throws for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns compared to five interceptions in his first season as a full-time starter.

Chambliss led the SEC with 3,937 passing yards, tossing 22 touchdowns while getting picked off just three times. He also found the end zone eight times on the ground.

Chambliss excelled during the Rebels' CFP run, completing 67.9 percent of his throws for 921 yards and four touchdowns in three playoff games.

Allar's 2025 season came to an early end due to a broken ankle, although he's expected to make a full recovery while preparing for the draft. He threw for at least 24 touchdowns in each of the prior two years.

As for Klubnik, he completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 2,943 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2025.
