Tom Brady Talks Possibility of Playing Flag Football in 2028 LA Olympics on Video, 'Never Say Never'

NFL legend Tom Brady didn't totally close the door on representing Team USA at the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will include flag football for the first time ever.

"I would never say never, but it's probably unlikely," Brady said Tuesday on Good Morning America.

The 48-year-old added that a less intensive role as an advisor or coach would be more to his speed.

Brady will make his flag debut in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic on Saturday. He's one of many current and former NFL luminaries taking part. Having the seven-time Super Bowl champion go on to represent the United States in Los Angeles can't be totally ruled out.

Team owners gave the green light to allow NFL players to compete in the Summer Games, and you could assemble quite the dream team from that roster pool. Until the final details are hammered out, though, nobody knows for sure how Team USA will look.

When flag football is so much less physically demanding, including retired stars in that group is at least plausible.

In his last season, Brady threw for 4,694 yards and 25 touchdowns, leading the league in both completions (490) and attempts (733) for the second straight year. He might still be able to sling it, and he won't have to worry about a pass rush bearing down on him in flag football.

Philip Rivers was out of the NFL for four years, yet he didn't look totally out of place when he made his shocking comeback this past season.

All things considered, Brady would be far down the list of best options at quarterback for the Olympics. The idea nonetheless can't be dismissed out of hand for now.
