AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer Headline AP All-America 1st Team for 2025-26 CBB Season

Duke forward Cameron Boozer and BYU forward AJ Dybantsa were two of the most hyped prep stars coming into the 2025-26 season, and they more than matched expectations.

The pair of freshmen earned first-team All-American honors from the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Fellow first-year standout Darius Acuff Jr. from Arkansas, Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg and Texas Tech forward JT Toppin claimed the other three spots.

The omission of Kansas' Darryn Peterson is notable given he continues to hover near the top of NBA draft boards. Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman currently has him going third overall behind Dybantsa and Boozer.

It's hard for a player to crack an All-American team when he only makes 21 appearances, though. Peterson has looked like a No. 1 pick-type prospect, averaging 19.8 points on 44.2 percent shooting, but his injury woes have overshadowed his season.

Boozer and Dybantsa have been excellent from the outset.

Boozer is putting up 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest. He's also showcasing nice range, shooting 56.5 percent overall and 40.9 percent on three-pointers.

Dybantsa is leading Division I in scoring (25.3 points) while shouldering a heavy load without a stacked supporting cast. He has a 33.5 percent usage rate heading into the NCAA tournament, per Sports Reference.

BYU's slide to close out the regular season dealt a fatal blow to Dybantsa's hopes of winning the big national player of the year awards. The Cougars' 23-11 record is quite the contrast from Duke's 32-2 mark, which only boosted Boozer's resume.

An All-American nod is a nice consolation, and maybe Dybantsa can claim some bragging rights by going first in the NBA draft.
