Early Final Four 2026 Predictions and Projections Following Men's NCAA Bracket Release

Taylyn Hadley Mar 15, 2026

Selection Sunday is in the books for the 2026 men's NCAA tournament, and the official bracket has been unveiled.

The four No. 1 seeds — Arizona, Michigan, Florida and overall No. 1 seed Duke — headline the field, but will they be the teams cutting down the nets and reaching the famed Final Four?

East: Duke

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: MAR 14 ACC TournamentVirginia vs Duke

The Duke Blue Devils' dominance led them to close out their season on an 11-game win streak and an ACC Championship, setting them up for poise entering the Big Dance.

With Naismith Player of the Year frontrunner Cameron Boozer leading the way — pacing the team in points, rebounds and assists along with a hungry head coach in Jon Scheyer hunting for his first NCAA title with the famous Blue Devils, this lineup is perfect to make a final four run.

Duke will face some challenges along the way, with either No. 8 Ohio State or No. 9 TCU presenting a solid second-round matchup.

A potential Sweet 16 game against No. 4 Kansas appears winnable, but the Blue Devils' toughest test in the region could come against UConn — the previous 2023 and 2024 champions — in a battle for a spot in the Final Four.

West: Arizona

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: MAR 14 Big 12 Tournament Houston vs Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats were one of the hottest teams in the country this season, opening the year with 23 straight wins before stumbling with back-to-back losses in early February.

Arizona enters the tournament as one of the healthiest teams in the field, a major advantage considering all five starters average double figures.

The West Region also presents a favorable path to the Final Four. If the Wildcats play to their full potential, they could navigate the bracket until a potential Elite Eight matchup with No. 2 Purdue.

South: Houston

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: MAR 14 Big 12 Tournament Houston vs Arizona

Houston had its struggles against ranked opponents during the regular season, notably dropping three straight games in mid-February to No. 6 Iowa State, No. 4 Arizona and No. 14 Kansas State.

However, No. 2 Houston has star-potential and nearly pulled off a Big 12 Tournament win over Arizona.

They landed in a favorable bottom half of the South Region, potentially facing a North Carolina team dealing with late-season injuries and an Illinois squad that struggled down the stretch.

Whoever advances from the top half of the region — likely Florida or Nebraska — would present a strong challenge in the Elite Eight. However, those games would be played in downtown Houston, giving the Cougars a significant home-court advantage.

Tarleton State v Virginia

The Virginia Cavaliers are hungry for another title since their last win in 2019, especially after being runner ups to Duke in the ACC Tournament Finals this season.

Virginia could face No. 2 Iowa State in the second round, another team who had a late season skid, finishing on a 4-4 run.

The Cavaliers would face one of the toughest paths to the Final Four, with potential matchups against No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 4 Alabama or No. 1 Michigan in the Elite Eight. But, if any team can navigate that gauntlet, it could be Virginia's mix of young talent and experienced veterans.
