After the Retrievers clinched a spot in the 2026 men's NCAA tournament with a 74-59 victory over Vermont in the American East championship game on Saturday, the school's athletic department trolled Alabama football online:

UMBC is a familiar name for college basketball fans considering it became the first No. 16 seed to defeat a No. 1 seed in the Big Dance when it stunned Virginia in the first round of the 2018 tournament.
It had some fun with the Crimson Tide following the win:
But Alabama is no longer the gold standard of current college football, especially after just sneaking into the College Football Playoff with three losses before getting blown out by 35 points to Indiana.
The Hoosiers ended up winning the national championship, and the Retrievers made note of that in their latest post.
This year's UMBC team enters the tournament with plenty of momentum after 12 straight victories and could be a candidate to pull off yet another upset.
