Kamaru Usman Appears to Tease Conor McGregor Fight in 2026 amid UFC Rumors

Kamaru Usman seemed to tease a potential fight with Conor McGregor on social media.

"Usman X Mcgregor 2026," Usman wrote in a Friday post on X.

McGregor hasn't stepped in the Octagon since his defeat at the hands of Dustin Poirier in July 2021, but has expressed his desire to return.

He ultimately wasn't on the fight card of the UFC's upcoming White House event, though. UFC president Dana White didn't provide a definitive timeline for McGregor to make a comeback, but still left the door open for a future fight.

"No, but we are definitely talking about it obviously," White said regarding McGregor on Saturday, via Donagh Corby of Bloody Elbow.

As for Usman, the former UFC welterweight champion owned a 20-1 record before suffering three consecutive losses from 2022-23. He fell to Leon Edwards twice, with his third straight defeat coming against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294.

Usman eventually emerged victorious in his last fight, a matchup with Joaquin Buckley at UFC Fight Night in Jun. 2025.

Now, McGregor could be his next opponent.
