Cowboys' Jerry Jones Not Expecting Maxx Crosby Trade But Won't 'Rule Anything Out'

Adam WellsMar 13, 2026

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is at least keeping the door open for a potential Maxx Crosby trade, even if he's not anticipating a deal coming together.

Speaking to reporters for an event at AT&T Stadium, Jones said he "won't rule anything out" despite the Cowboys being "pretty far down the road" with what they wanted to accomplish in free agency.

"We're pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are," Jones said. "So while I don't anticipate it, I don't want to rule anything out."

Crosby seemed to be headed to the Baltimore Ravens after they originally agreed to trade two first-round draft picks to the Las Vegas Raiders, but it was announced on Tuesday that they backed out of the deal due to concerns over his physical.

Crosby is recovering from meniscus surgery in January that ended his 2025 season prior to Week 17.

After the Ravens' initial agreement with the Raiders, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Dallas was willing to offer a first- and second-round pick to Las Vegas for Crosby.

Even though Crosby is now back with the Raiders and could potentially be a trade candidate yet again, the Cowboys' level of interest might not be as high as it was when they were reportedly prepared to make that original offer.

Schefter (h/t Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio) reported on Wednesday that "multiple doctors" reviewed Crosby's MRI before the Ravens backed out of the trade. One of the doctors involved in the process was Daniel Cooper, the Cowboys' head physician.

Crosby seemed to affirm his commitment to the Raiders in a post on X after everything with the Ravens went down.

There's still some thought that Crosby could eventually get traded, possibly in the summer as he gets further removed from surgery and closer to being cleared to play.

The Cowboys have already spent $50 million in free agency this week, nearly matching their total from the previous five years combined. They only have $15.3 million in cap space, so fitting Crosby's $36 million cap number for 2026 on the books could be very difficult.
