New Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors Surface Despite Raiders Star's Undertaker Meme After Failed Ravens Deal
Even though Maxx Crosby affirmed his commitment to the Las Vegas Raiders after the trade with the Baltimore Ravens fell through, opposing teams are still calling about potentially acquiring the five-time Pro Bowler.
Appearing on the Thursday morning SportsCenter, ESPN's Dan Graziano explained the Raiders "are still hearing from teams" interested in Crosby and a trade isn't necessarily off the table:
""My understanding is it all still fits, that they had enough cap room that they can do all of these deals they agreed to on Monday and Tuesday and still bring back Maxx Crosby on that contract. Is it ideal? Probably not, but they don't have to back out of any deals or make any other moves to accommodate this. Now, they're still hearing from teams on Maxx Crosby, and it's certainly still possible he could ended up traded. But because of everything that's gone on the last couple of days, teams are trying to get him for pennies on the dollar and the Raiders aren't interested in moving him unless they get a high-level return. Could they still get two first-round picks from somebody? Probably not, but if you let this go into the summer a little bit as he gets healthier, you might be able to get more than what's on the table now. So, I think that's part of the Raiders' plan. There's also a chance he plays for them in 2026, so a lot of things are on the table right now. Pretty much anything except him going to Baltimore.""My understanding is it all still fits, that they had enough cap room that they can do all of these deals they agreed to on Monday and Tuesday and still bring back Maxx Crosby on that contract. Brissett Wants Starter Money
On Thursday, Crosby posted a meme on X of WWE legend The Undertaker emerging from a flaming casket and captioned it: "I'm a Raider."
The Ravens originally agreed to acquire Crosby from the Raiders in exchange for two first-round picks on March 6, but they backed out of the deal on Tuesday due to concerns over his physical.
Crosby underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus in January. His surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday that Crosby remains "on track" with his rehab and is planning to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta told reporters he was "gutted" the deal fell apart. The club pivoted to a deal with Trey Hendrickson on a four-year, $112 million contract agreement to address their pass-rush need.
The timing of this situation would presumably make it more difficult for the Raiders to pull off a Crosby trade if they want to seriously reengage in talks. Teams have already agreed to deals with free agents. Wednesday marked the first official day of the new league year, meaning contracts could be signed.
One club that could presumably be crossed off the list of interested Crosby suitors is the Dallas Cowboys since their team doctor, Daniel Cooper, was among multiple physicians who examined Crosby prior to the Ravens backing out of the trade.
It could also be difficult for the Raiders to get anything close to the two first-round picks the Ravens were going to send them given where things stand with Crosby's knee.
There has been nothing wrong with Crosby's on-field performance when he is healthy. The 28-year-old has recorded at least 10 sacks in three of the last four seasons, but he has missed seven games over the previous two seasons after not missing a game in his first five years in the NFL.
