Maxx Crosby's Agent Updates Star's Injury Status After Ravens Back Out of Trade with Raiders
Maxx Crosby will not be a Baltimore Raven, but his agent attempted to reassure others the star pass-rusher is on track to be healthy in 2026.
After the Las Vegas Raiders announced the Ravens "backed out" of the trade that would send Crosby to Baltimore for two first-round picks, agent CJ LaBoy took to social media to say the star is "ahead of schedule" as he returns from surgery and "on track to return during the offseason program."
The update came after Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported "after Maxx Crosby underwent testing today at the Ravens' facility, Baltimore made the decision as an organization that it could not move forward with the deal based on the results of the medical."
While Crosby played 15 games last season, he also underwent surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee in January.
Despite the injury, he finished the 2025 campaign with 73 tackles, 10 sacks, six passes defended, two forced fumbles and one interception. It was the fourth time in his career he reached double-digit sacks, and he also made the Pro Bowl for the fifth time.
Seeing how the Ravens' lackluster pass-rush was a major concern as they went 8-9 last season and missed the playoffs, Crosby seemed like a major addition. Only the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers finished with fewer sacks than Baltimore's 30, and having someone like Crosby surely would have helped the AFC North team change that.
However, now he is back on the Raiders and someone another contender could look to acquire via trade.
But Las Vegas likely won't get two first-round picks back in return given the apparent medical concerns at this point. Russini provided an update and reported "some teams I spoke to tonight expect the Raiders to be the ones calling them."
A number of teams, including the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars, were previously linked to the star pass-rusher. However, Russini reported the Cowboys "are not expected to re-engage" in those trade talks.
If other teams feel that way after making other moves in free agency, Las Vegas will not have nearly as many suitors as the last time it landed two first-round picks for Crosby.
The end result could be a team landing a premier defensive player at a discounted price, especially if he ends up being as healthy as his agent suggests he will be next season.
