Ravens' Reversal of Maxx Crosby Trade Stuns NFL Fans As Star Remains with Raiders

In a stunning turn of events, Maxx Crosby is no longer going to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Las Vegas Raiders announced that the Ravens have backed out of the deal, which was made last week.

Neither team offered an explanation, and fans were understandably left perplexed.

Crosby has been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL in recent years, but injury concerns reportedly arose when he underwent his physical. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Ravens felt like the two first-round picks they traded for Crosby weren't worth it since his torn meniscus was not fully healed.

"If they want to pay Maxx Crosby his entire salary and two first-round picks, they might decide that—the knee, meniscus repair, not fully back—that it is not worth the risk," Rapoport said. "That is clearly the decision that the Baltimore Ravens have made. It is not unprecedented. It is incredibly, incredibly rare."

While Crosby's knee might have healed fully by the start of the season, it's understandable that the Ravens weren't willing to commit to trading away a pair of valuable picks and taking on Crosby's expensive contract.

The question now is what's next for both Crosby and the Raiders. Las Vegas has already spent big in free agency, but it will now once again be responsible for Crosby's contract unless it makes another trade.

The Raiders might have difficulty trading Crosby at this point, though, as his value has surely gone down after what transpired in Baltimore.
