Latest Patriots Rumors List Chris Olave, More WR Targets amid A.J. Brown Trade Buzz

Andrew PetersMar 9, 2026

The defending AFC champs reportedly are eyeing a handful of wide receiver targets this offseason.

Per NFL insider Josina Anderson, the New England Patriots could target Chris Olave, Romeo Doubs or Christian Kirk, though a trade for Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown is still on the table.

Olave is coming off a strong season for the Saints, recording 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns to bounce back from a 2024 campaign that saw him play just eight games. The former first-round pick is set to play the 2026 campaign on a fifth-year option worth $15.4 million before hitting free agency next offseason.

Doubs, who is entering his first free agency after being picked in the fourth round in 2022, had a career season in 2025 with 724 yards and six touchdowns. The 25-year-old is ranked No. 49 on Bleacher Report's free agency big board.

The 29-year-old Kirk had a down year with the Houston Texans in 2025, recording just 239 yards and a touchdown while missing four games. While Kirk could revitalize his career with Drake Maye and the Patriots, he perhaps wouldn't be the home run signing New England is hoping for.

Brown, who is widely expected to be traded by the Eagles this offseason, reportedly has the Patriots on his wish list of teams this offseason, along with the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs.

While there seems to be mutual interest between the Pats and Brown, a trade could depend on the Eagles' asking price. Per Andrew Callahan and Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald, New England has "explored trade talks" for Brown, but Philadelphia's asking price is considered "unserious."

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer noted that one executive said the Eagles are seeking a first- and second-round draft pick for Brown.

The title window is wide open for the Patriots, but adding a wide receiver to replace Stefon Diggs is a crucial part of this offseason. Whether New England is willing to spend big for a player like Brown could be the difference in it returning to the Super Bowl next year.
