Travis Etienne Posts Emotional GIF After Leaving Trevor Lawrence, Jags for Saints Contract
Travis Etienne Jr. signed with the New Orleans Saints on Monday, ending his run with the Jacksonville Jaguars and longtime teammate Trevor Lawrence.
Etienne, who had played alongside Lawrence since 2018, is clearly emotional about leaving his quarterback.

Lawrence also wished his former teammate farewell on social media.
Etienne and Lawrence both played at Clemson, with Etienne playing for the Tigers from 2017 to 2020 and Lawrence playing from 2018 to 2020. After winning the national title together in 2020, Lawrence was selected by the Jags with the first overall pick in 2021, and Etienne was picked up with the 25th pick.
In 2025, the two helped spark a huge turnaround, improving from 4-13 to 13-4, Jacksonville's best season since 1999. The Jags lost to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round.
Etienne ultimately decided it was time for a change of scenery and signed with the Saints on a four-year, $52 million deal. The 27-year-old is a Louisiana native.
Etienne and Lawrence's paths might cross again someday, but for now they'll go their separate ways and look to lead their respective teams to success.
