Trent McDuffie Rumors Reveal Rams Contract Talks for Possible Record-Setting Deal After Chiefs Trade
After landing Trent McDuffie in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs last week, the Los Angeles Rams reportedly plan to reward him financially.
Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the team has made "significant progress" toward a contract extension for the cornerback. Garafolo added that "the hope is a deal is done in the near future" and that he's "expected" to land a deal that will make him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL at over $30 million per year.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
The 25-year-old McDuffie, a first-round draft pick in 2022, is currently set to play the 2026 campaign on the club option of his rookie deal and has a base salary of $13.6 million. The Chiefs exercised his fifth-year option last spring.
McDuffie is coming off a season in which he recorded 63 tackles, an interception and seven passes defended, though he also missed the final four games of the season because of a knee injury.
The Chiefs traded McDuffie to Los Angeles last week in return for the 29th pick, a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick this year, along with a third-round pick in next year's draft.
While McDuffie has already earned first-team All-Pro and Second-team All-Pro nods, the Chiefs, who missed the playoffs last season and will be without star quarterback Patrick Mahomes for much of the 2026 campaign, were able to save $13.6 million against the cap by dealing him away.
Now, the Rams are seemingly ready to commit to him for the long-term.
The current highest-paid cornerback is the Indianapolis Colts' Sauce Gardner, who makes $30.1 million per year, followed by the Houston Texans' Derek Stingley Jr., who earns $30 million per year.
Spotrac tabs McDuffie's market value at $27.9 million per year, slightly below those two, but it appears Los Angeles could give him a record-setting deal.
