NFL Free Agency 2026 Teams with Most Salary Cap Space Ahead of Monday's Signings

Kristopher KnoxMar 9, 2026

NFL free agency has arrived. The legal-contact window will open at noon ET on Monday, and several early deals were struck over the weekend. While signings won't become official until the start of the new league year (4 p.m. ET on Wednesday), the downpour of spending has already begun.

Some teams are in far better position to spend big than others. Some of the "others" actually need to create cap space in order to be active on the open market.

Here's a look at the salary-cap landscape and the teams expected to be the biggest spenders with free agency set to unofficially begin.

The Las Vegas Raiders have already taken their first steps toward a complete offseason overhaul. They secured the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft—which is expected to be used on Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza—and they just traded away the face of their defense.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders have agreed to send star edge-rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for first-round picks in 2026 and 2027.

General manager John Spytek is also equipped with a league-leading amount of cap space, which he will likely use to upgrade Mendoza's supporting cast.

The list of free agents who would make sense for Las Vegas includes center Tyler Linderbaum, offensive tackle Braden Smith, and wide receiver Alec Pierce. All three ranked inside the top 10 on Bleacher Report's latest free-agent big board.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are in need of a rebuild the way the Raiders are. They reached the playoffs in 2025, and they came close to winning the AFC West. However, L.A. does need to bolster its offensive supporting cast.

General manager Joe Hortiz has made one big move already, signing center Tyler Biadasz to a three-year, $30 million contract, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Biadasz should be a significant upgrade over 2025 starting center Bradley Bozeman. Bozeman, who retired after the season, was ranked 40th overall among 40 qualifying centers by Pro Football Focus this past season. Biadasz, meanwhile, was ranked 11th overall and 12th in pass-blocking by Pro Football Focus this past season.

L.A. may also be in the market for backfield and receiver depth, and it has a few important players to consider re-signing. The Chargers' list of top free agents includes guard Zion Johnson, edge-rusher Odafe Oweh, and wide receiver Keenan Allen.

Titans head coach Robert Saleh

Like the Raiders, the Tennessee Titans were flat-out bad in 2025. Also like the Raiders, they have a new head coach and a surplus of cap space that can be used to rebuild quickly.

With head coach Robert Saleh coming from the San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee may consider targeting impending free agents from the organization like wide receiver Jauan Jennings and wideout Kendrick Bourne. With general manager Mike Borgonzi coming from the Kansas City Chiefs, free agents like linebacker Leo Chenal and cornerback Jaylen Watson may also be on Tennessee's radar.

The Titans should also be looking to improve their offense in the coming days. They got their quarterback of the future by using the top pick in last year's draft on Cam Ward. Now, they need to give Ward the sort of supporting cast he needs to be successful.

While Tennessee didn't have a great overall roster last year, it does have a few impending free agents it should consider bringing back. That group includes tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo, guard Kevin Zeitler, and linebacker Arden Key.
