Kim English, Providence Part Ways After 3 Seasons amid Struggles
Kim English is officially out as Providence's head coach after three seasons at the helm.
"We appreciate Kim and his staff for their efforts over the past three seasons leading our men's basketball team," Providence College Athletic Director Steve Napolillo said in a statement. "We wish him and his family all the best in the future."
While Cooley had turned Providence into a team that regularly made tournament appearances, English couldn't continue that tradition. He went 21-14 and 10-10 in Big East play in his first season, missing the big dance, before going 12-20 and 6-14 in conference play last year.

The Friars gave English an extension following his first season despite missing the NCAA tournament.
Things didn't improve much this year. Aside from an upset win over St. John's earlier in the season, the Friars went 15-18 and were bounced from the Big East Tournament by the Red Storm on Thursday.
Ultimately, the program felt it was time for a change in direction.
English cut his teeth as an assistant for Tulsa and Colorado before serving on Rick Barnes' staff at Tennessee from 2019 to 2021. He then landed his first head coaching job at George Mason ahead of the 2021-22 season.
He led the Patriots to a solid 20-13 record in 2022-23, showing signs of a program on the rise, but he left for Providence the following season.
