Best NFL Free-Agency Landing Spots for Stefon Diggs After Patriots Release WR
In consecutive offseasons, Stefon Diggs will be a free agent. The New England Patriots plan to release him at the start of the new league year on March 11. He said thank you and goodbye to the team on Instagram, as NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted on X.
In March 2025, the Patriots signed the 32-year-old to a three-year, $63.5 million deal. This past season, he hauled in 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, bouncing back from a torn ACL that limited him to seven games with the Houston Texans in 2024.
As Drake Maye's primary target, Diggs led the Patriots in catches and receiving yards. He also provided vocal leadership, often speaking to and encouraging teammates on the sidelines.
All that said, he will play for his fourth team in four years. He's more of a chain-mover than an explosive playmaker. Lastly, Diggs' off-field situation may also factor into how teams evaluate him this offseason.
Teams must take all of that into account in pursuit of the player, though he should have a decent market given the lack of marquee receivers in the free-agent pool.
Here are the best landing spots for Diggs following his expected release.
Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have popped up on potential landing spots for receivers because the offense needs a wideout other than Zay Flowers to be a consistent target.
After logging career receiving numbers in 2024, Rashod Bateman regressed this past season. He finished sixth on the team in catches (19) and fifth in receiving yards (224) with a 50 percent catch rate.
As a possession receiver, Diggs can complement Flowers, whose speed opens up the field for other wideouts on short-to-intermediate routes. Still a reliable pass-catching threat, he can feast on receptions over the middle and in the seams.
Furthermore, with the Ravens set to install a new offense under first-time play-caller Declan Doyle, Lamar Jackson needs another safety valve in the passing attack, other than tight end Mark Andrews.
Diggs grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and played for the Terrapins in college. So, this could be a full-circle homecoming for him in the twilight of his career.
Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys do not have an immediate need at wide receiver. They franchise-tagged George Pickens, though he's not a lock to play with them in 2026.
Rapoport suggested the Cowboys could trade Pickens if a team offers a second-round pick for him, which allows them to capitalize on the value of acquiring the wideout from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2026 third-rounder and 2027 fifth-rounder.
Moreover, Rapoport doesn't expect Pickens to report to the Cowboys' facilities without a new deal in place. If that's the case, a team willing to sign the Pro Bowler to a lucrative long-term contract could make an enticing inquiry.
The Cowboys would create a position of need if they trade Pickens. Remember, Jalen Tolbert will be a free agent.
Even if Dallas works out a long-term agreement with Pickens, it could still add Stefon Diggs to the mix. Owner Jerry Jones can look to further maximize his investment in quarterback Dak Prescott.
CeeDee Lamb, Pickens and Diggs can co-exist in the same offense. In the last few years, Diggs has taken a significant number of snaps out of the slot. Lamb and Pickens rotated inside last season. They're all interchangeable as it pertains to their pre-snap positions.
Lastly, Diggs is familiar with Cowboys' passing game specialist, Ken Dorsey, who served as his offensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills from 2022 to 2023.
Denver Broncos

Here's some background on this landing spot. According to Rapoport, the Denver Broncos were interested in signing Stefon Diggs last offseason, but he chose the New England Patriots.
Ironically, the Patriots beat the Broncos in the AFC Championship. Diggs caught five passes for just 17 yards in a snow game, but his season numbers indicate he's still a solid receiver.
It shouldn't be a surprise if Denver pursues Diggs again. The Broncos have $25.2 million in cap space, and they're trying to build a Super Bowl roster around quarterback Bo Nix.
Alongside Courtland Sutton, Diggs can elevate the Broncos' passing offense, which would be key to keeping the offense moving if Denver's 16th-ranked rushing attack from the previous season doesn't improve.
Diggs' presence certainly helped Drake Maye's second-year growth; he can do the same for Nix, who's entering his third season.
Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are salary-cap compliant. They have $24.9 million in cap space, so general manager Brett Veach can make an aggressive move for a reliable veteran receiver.
Hollywood Brown will be a free agent. Rashee Rice has missed 22 games over the last two seasons. Xavier Worthy, a 2024 first-rounder, missed three games last year and struggled with consistency while healthy. He's still a work in progress.
Aside from his ACL injury in 2024, Diggs has been mostly available throughout his career. He racked up more catches and receiving yards than any player on the Chiefs' 2025 roster.
In Kansas City, Diggs would have the best quarterback teammate in his career, assuming Patrick Mahomes makes a full recovery from a torn ACL. Entering his age-33 term, he's capable of putting up strong receiving numbers with an elite-level quarterback in a pass-heavy offense.
Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are the most logical landing spot for Diggs.
First and foremost, he would reunite with Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who held the same position with the Buffalo Bills and worked with the receiver in 2020 and 2021, helping him rack up Pro Bowl numbers.
Under Daboll, Diggs immediately blossomed into a premier playmaker, leading the league in catches (127) and receiving yards (1,535) in his first year with the Bills. He played the best football of his career that season. The 11-year veteran could experience a career resurgence in a reunion.
Besides that, Diggs could be a go-to target for second-year quarterback Cam Ward as he was for Drake Maye in New England last season.
In the seven games they played together this past campaign, Ward and wideout Calvin Ridley weren't on the same page. The Titans could make an attempt to trade Ridley. Even if they don't, Diggs can easily be the No. 1 receiver in an offense he knows inside and out.
Also, Diggs can secure a sizeable contract from the Titans if there's mutual interest. Tennessee has $93.8 million in cap space.
