New Tua Tagovailoa Rumors on Concerns over Play Style, Injuries amid Dolphins Trade Buzz
Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is one of the biggest names on the trade market this offseason, but it doesn't sound like many teams view him as an attractive acquisition.
The Athletic's Jeff Howe revealed that teams around the NFL feel that Tagovailoa's declining production, coupled with his injury history, significantly hurt his trade value, making it more likely that the Dolphins will release him
"Tagovailoa, who turned 28 on Monday, hasn't processed his reads as efficiently as he did earlier in his career, according to sources from teams that have studied him," Howe reported. "His history of concussions is also a concern. If Tagovailoa hits free agency, he'll likely have to settle for a spot where he'd need to compete for a job."

The Dolphins will have to make a decision on Tagovailoa by March 13, as $3 million of his $31 million base salary for 2027 vests as fully guaranteed on that date.
It's not yet clear how the team will part ways with him, as Miami is unlikely to receive useful assets in a trade for him, and he will still be owed his fully guaranteed $54 million salary for the 2026 season if he's released.
Still, it seems clear that Tagovailoa will be wearing a new jersey next season, but it remains to be seen which team will take a chance on him.
